Learning bLogs in Grade 6
9 February 2015
Students at CIS have been using bLogs to reflect on their learning, show growth over time, celebrate their creative use of technology and to showcase their work to a wider audience. Students can receive feedback from anyone they share their bLogs with, whether it is the classroom teacher, their peers, family members or friends abroad.
This is a small sample of how some Grade 6 students are using their bLogs. They demonstrate the process of learning and not just the product.
- Charlotte (Grade 6 at LKS - Code Camp) has reflected on her experiences with the recent Code Avengers Camp held at the Lakeside campus.
- Ike (Grade 6 at LKS - Speech Reflection) draws from his own experiences in order to relate to, and reflect on, speeches presented as a provocation for their upcoming Exhibition (the provocation is designed to get students to think about some of the issues they might investigate).
- Although Cordelia's (Grade 6 at LKS - WWAPT Summative Reflection) work was not created digitally, she took a photo of her final project, and posted it to her bLog. Other students then commented on the work and offered feedback.
- Valentina's (Grade 6 LKS) bLog is a very good example that shows growth over time in learning to play a musical instrument. Valentina is proud of her progress and can compare her playing from the beginning of the year to the concert.
- Swara (Grade 6 at LKS - First WAELP) had access to tools such as Garage Band which she can use to compose her own music. How exciting to create music and share that on the bLog! Swara is clearly proud of her accomplishment.
