Six CIS student athletes, who are members of ESPZEN Soccer School, are invited to participate in the Youth World Cup that will take place in Sweden on 12-18 July. The Youth World Cup, also known as The Gothia Cup, is an annual tournament in which 1700 teams from 45 nations will compete during one full week of football extravaganza.

ESPZEN Soccer School is sending two Under 11 teams in which 9 student athletes are affiliated with CIS. The tournament will start with a friendly match on Sunday, 12 July against one of the top Swedish Academy Youth teams called Örgryte IS and end with another friendly match on Saturday, 18 July against another Swedish team, Sävedalens IF.

The players who will be representing CIS are:

  • Locke Atkinson (TK)
  • Keira Atkinson (TK) (Captain)
  • Alex Catanescu (LKS)
  • Ryan Taylor (TK)
  • Callum Bain (LKS)
  • Kyra Taylor (TK)
  • John Bjelke (LKS)

In addition, two former CIS students who moved back to Holland in Dec 2014, Sarah Hyndman (LKS) and William Hyndman (LKS) will be joining the tournaments.

The Youth World Cup will be an amazing experience for our students as they will be taking the first steps towards becoming international football players and witnessing different ways of playing the game against teams with diverse backgrounds. Footballers will gain technical knowledge and tactics playing against European, Oceanic, African and American teams.
